Our new recording of Quartets by Delius and Smyth will be released by Naxos later this month. We’d like to invite members of the Delius Society to our official release party in London.
This will be the first complete recording of Delius’s Quartet in C minor, written in 1888. The manuscript of the first two movements were found amongst the papers of Sir John Barbirolli, and put up for auction in 2020. With the help of the Delius Trust and Prof. Daniel M. Grimley of Oxford University, we were able to record this complete quartet, alongside the other two movements which had previously been published.
We will have a short musical performance and talk from Prof. Grimley about the Delius and Smyth Quartets, followed by a drinks reception.
Entry is by RSVP only to be added to the Guest List and details are being sent to members by email. To join the Society, go to: https://www.delius.org.uk/delius-society/membership/
