‘Grainger and Delius – A Musical Friendship’ (A Delius Society digital event)

Penelope Thwaites (©Rory Isserow)

Pianist PENELOPE THWAITES in conversation with musicologist and conductor, PAUL JACKSON.

With recorded extracts and live performances from the piano.

Recorded at Steinway Hall, London

Penelope Thwaites is recognised internationally as a leading exponent of Grainger’s music over four decades, with an extensive recording catalogue.
In conversation with musicologist Paul Jackson, former Director of Music at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, she draws on her experience of recording Grainger’s two-piano arrangements of Delius.

Together, they consider the remarkable and fruitful friendship between two sharply contrasting personalities, who nevertheless found an instant musical rapport.

Penelope is editor of The New Percy Grainger Companion, the acknowledged guide to Grainger’s music, to which Paul is a major contributor.

This event is available exclusively to members of the Delius Society and access details will be sent by email.
