The British Music Society presents ‘Sir John Barbirolli: British Music’s Cockney Emissary’, an afternoon lecture at the British Library. Dr Raymond Holden, The Sir John Barbirolli Lecturer in Music at the Royal Academy of Music, will use recordings, marked scores and other performance artefacts to chart the role of Sir John Barbirolli as British music’s leading international advocate.

Material from both the Royal Academy of Music and the British Library will be on display. The lecture will start at 2.30pm and will be presented in two 50 minute halves with a short break.
