It’s well known that Frederick Delius took a lot of inspiration from Norway. The composer spent twenty summers there, during which he fell in love with the people, landscapes and culture. In this video, Delius scholar, author and musician Andrew J Boyle gives a breakdown of Delius’ piece from the ‘vidda’ (Norwegian mountain plains) which inspired this work.
