‘Delius: an Anglo-American Composer’

Wednesday 26th February 2014 at 7.15pm

On the day of Delius’s re-interment at Limpsfield, the Observer carried a lengthy interview with Sir Thomas Beecham in which he declared that he had thought of writing a book with the title ‘An Anglo-American Composer’. Delius’s contact with African-American music, he maintained, had ‘brought out his gifts’. Tonight’s speaker, Roger Buckley, will attempt to justify Beecham’s belief.
