British pianist Mark Bebbington, on tour in the UK with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, is shown with Maestro Grzegorz Nowak in front of the Delius memorial outside St George’s Hall, in the composer’s home town of Bradford, following a performance of the composer’s Piano Concerto. Two additional performances took place in Guildford and Norwich and Bebbington performed the work in Manila earlier in the year.

Much appreciated by UK audiences and also by the Cultural Center of the Philippines; “The orchestra loved it”, said Bebbington of the Concerto. “The Concert Master described it very aptly as a ‘hidden gem’ and our conductor Grzegorz Nowak was marvellous with it.”

Bebbington went on to thank the Delius Trust for making the performances possible and all those who supported the endeavour.

The last known St George’s Hall performance, a highlight of the 1985 Bradford Delius Festival, was given by pianist Ian Flint with the Airedale Symphony Orchestra, conducted by John Anderson.
