Details have just been announced of a London performance of The Song of the High Hills, on Thursday 8 May 2025 in the Royal Festival Hall. A live UK performance of this work is long overdue; the last was in 2016 when Sir Mark Elder gave the work in Manchester, and the last London performance was as long ago as 2010.

Dr Andrew J Boyle, author of Delius and Norway, will give a pre-concert talk and photographs of the Norwegian mountains and plateaus that Delius loved will be projected during the performance.

The concert, which is supported by the Delius Trust, also features the world premiere of Richard Blackford’s La Sagrada Familia Symphony, accompanied by a stunning film of the building and its striking architecture and, after the interval, Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, in which the soloist will be Christopher Purves.
